Like the rest of the world, education in Kenya came to a standstill due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Schools closed, classrooms emptied, and children who relied on education as a pathway out of poverty found themselves at home, facing uncertainty.

At Vine Harvest, our main objective has always been to support less privileged children through education. But in the face of this unprecedented crisis, we knew we had to adapt. With schools closed, our focus shifted to ensuring that the basic needs of the children and their families were met during this challenging time.

Our team quickly mobilized resources and turned to other ways of supporting the communities we serve. We provided food and clothing donations to help families make it through the economic hardships brought on by the pandemic. Additionally, we stepped in to pay rent for those at risk of losing their homes, ensuring that the children had a safe place to stay.

While education remains at the heart of our mission, we recognize that supporting a child’s overall well-being is just as crucial, especially during times of crisis. As we look ahead to the reopening of schools, Vine Harvest is committed to continuing our support and ensuring that these children have every opportunity to return to the classroom and pursue their dreams.

Together, we can build a brighter future for these children, one that includes not only education but the security and care they need to thrive.
